CBD for Beginners

CBD for Beginners

By now, you’ve heard of CBD—maybe a friend touted the impact CBD has made on their health or you passed CBD-infused products in the personal care aisle. But if you’re new to CBD, you may be asking what it is and how you know whether it’s right for you.

What Is CBD?

CBD—the abbreviation for cannabidiol—is a compound that is found in hemp plants. While CBD is an active ingredient in marijuana, the oil is derived directly from hemp, which doesn’t have the same high dose of the psychoactive property THC. Thru Hemp’s products are free of THC so you can feel secure knowing you’re getting the cannabidiols without feeling high.

Studies suggest that CBD may help individuals with anxiety, insomnia and types of physical pain, including chronic pain and inflammation due to arthritis. While CBD should never be used in place of medication and professional medical advice, it has become popular in recent years among those looking to manage these ailments.

What Is Broad Spectrum?

You may notice CBD is called Broad Spectrum, Full Spectrum or CBD Isolate. CBD Isolate only contains the CBD that has been removed from the hemp, leaving out other helpful cannabinoids and terpenes so you don’t get the full effect of positive benefits. While both Full and Broad Spectrum contain a variety of cannabinoids, Full Spectrum products contain up to 0.3% THC (the psychoactive compound found in marijuana), but Broad Spectrum contains all of the cannabidiols other than THC, including CBD, CBN, CBG and CBC. All Thru Hemp products are Broad Spectrum, so you can be certain they won’t contain THC.

After harvesting our organically grown hemp, the oil is extracted and put through a Spectrum Chromatography process. This means any THC molecules that are still in the product are removed, leaving behind only CBD and cannabinoids all without the THC.

If you’ve been hesitant to try CBD, you won’t have to worry about whether you’ll feel high or fail a drug test from using Thru Hemp products.

How Do I Choose a CBD Product?

The product you choose depends entirely on your preference. Our CBD gummies and hemp oil both contain similar amounts of CBD per package (900 mg for the gummies and 750 or 1500 depending on the product). If you’re beginning CBD for the first time and would like to start off with a lower dose, we suggest ordering 750 mg of our hemp oil.

For physical pain and muscle tenderness or aches, we recommend our topical pain cream.

How Much Do I Take?

The perfect amount of CBD depends on your preferences as an individual, but there are some general guidelines. For starters, it’s recommended that you take 30-50 mg under the tongue or one gummy 2-3 times throughout the day—often individuals like to take one in the morning and one before bed—for a week. Pay attention during that time to see how you feel. If you believe more is necessary, you can increase the mg you’re taking at one time or order a higher dose of our products.
