What Is Hemp Oil?

Hemp oil is made from the buds of the hemp plant and contains a range of beneficial cannabinoids, including CBD.

Is CBD Oil the Same as Hemp Oil?

CBD oil is sometimes used interchangeably with hemp oil as they’re both derived from the buds of the hemp plant. However, CBD is only one of the cannabinoid compounds found in hemp oil. Hemp oil contains additional cannabinoids—such as CBG and CBN—that work together and increase the health benefits of the product.

What Is Hemp Seed Oil?

Hemp seed oil is made from the seeds of the hemp plant. Extracted through cold pressing, hemp seed oil has a high level of omega-3 and omega-6 fatty acids, including high concentrations of linoleic acid, alpha-linolenic acid and gamma-linoleic acid. Omega-3 and omega-6 have a range of positive health benefits, making them great health supplements. However, unlike hemp oil, it doesn’t contain CBD.

Hemp Oil vs. Hemp Seed Oil

While both are extracted from hemp and contain a myriad of health benefits, hemp seed oil doesn’t contain CBD, while hemp oil does. Because of this, the FDA allows it to be sold wherever other supplements are found while hemp oil has more regulations on where it can be sold. If you’ve found hemp seed oil in your local market, be aware that while it contains plenty of omega fatty acids that are good for your health, it won’t have any CBD or the benefits that come from taking cannabinoids.
