What Is Broad Spectrum?

When looking into CBD products, you may have noticed the terms “Broad Spectrum” and “Full Spectrum” used. But what is broad-spectrum extract, and what is the difference between full-spectrum and broad-spectrum CBD?
What Is Broad Spectrum?
Broad-spectrum CBD contains several beneficial cannabinoids—including CBG and CBN—that work well together in the body, but without THC, the psychoactive compounds that are most commonly connected to marijuana. Because hemp is a close cousin to marijuana, it contains small amounts of THC. However, broad spectrum is processed to remove all THC, thus removing the compound that would make you feel high.
What’s the Difference Between Full Spectrum and Broad Spectrum CBD?
Unlike broad spectrum, which is processed to remove all THC, full spectrum still contains trace amounts of THC. The 2018 Farm Bill was passed allowing hemp to be produced and marketed as long as it contains a THC concentration of 0.3% or less. While that amount is small enough to not provide psychoactive effects, you have options of whether you’d like any THC or not by choosing between broad spectrum and full spectrum.
How Is Broad Spectrum CBD Made?
When harvested, Thru Hemp’s seed-to-shelf hemp contains below 0.3% THC. We then extract the oil by pressing the hemp so that we end up with a product that is full of natural hemp cannabinoids and terpenes. Lastly, we use a process called Spectrum Chromatography that identifies and removes THC molecules without filtering out the other beneficial cannabinoids.
At Thru Hemp, you can be sure that all of our CBD products are beneficial to your health and wellness without the potential for an accidental high. By providing high-quality broad-spectrum hemp products, you can focus, unwind or destress the way you intend to.
